Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back Elvedi has officially joined Leeds United on a three-year contract.

Leeds United announced on Wednesday the signing of Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi. The two sides reached a three-year contract, valid until June 30, 2029.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Elvedi's transfer fee was €8 million plus €2 million in add-ons. Furthermore, Borussia Mönchengladbach retained a 15% cut of the player's transfer fee on any subsequent sale.

The 29-year-old Elvedi came through the Zurich youth academy and transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach in July 2015 for €4 million. He played for Mönchengladbach for 11 seasons, making 364 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists.

Elvedi also made 73 appearances for the Swiss national team, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists. His greatest achievement to date is undoubtedly reaching the quarterfinals of both the 2020 European Championship and the 2026 World Cup.

After completing the transfer, Elvedi stated through official channels: "I am very excited. Everything is ready, and I can't wait to play for the club."
