Jordan James joins Timberwolves on loan with a buyout clause included in the contract.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially announced the signing of Jordan James on loan from Rennes in Ligue 1. The player was named Championship Young Player of the Year last season. The loan agreement includes an option to buy, which would allow Wolves to make James a permanent signing next summer.  

Jordan James, 22, primarily plays as a midfielder. Born in Hereford, he was developed through the Birmingham City youth academy. He made his first-team debut at the age of 17 and gradually accumulated professional experience. During his time at Birmingham City, Jordan James made 105 appearances, 95 of which were in the Championship.  

In 2024, Jordan James left Birmingham City to join Rennes in Ligue 1. In his first season there, he made 25 appearances for the team. He then joined Leicester City on loan last season and quickly became a key member of the midfield. Despite the team's overall performance being less than ideal, Jordan James maintained his excellent individual performance, making 34 appearances in all competitions, contributing 11 goals and 4 assists, with his 11 goals being the highest in the club's history during that period.  

Based on his outstanding performance last season, Jordan James was named Championship Young Player of the Year. He also garnered several individual accolades for Leicester City, winning the Fans' Choice Player, Teammates' Choice Player, and Young Player of the Year awards, fully demonstrating his exceptional performance for the team.  

Wolves manager Cesar Pescotto spoke highly of Jordan James, praising the midfielder's versatility and ability to play in two or even three different positions. He stated that James possesses not only outstanding technical ability but also excellent game reading and stamina. Pescotto said, "I'm very happy with his arrival because we need to increase our squad options. Jordan James is a very capable player; he can play in multiple positions and has a very well-rounded skill set."

His previous overseas experience has also helped him develop professionally, all of which will help him contribute to Wolves.
