Pogba's contract was terminated early by Monaco, leaving his next destination uncertain.

Monaco officially announced on Wednesday that they have terminated the contract of French midfielder Paul Pogba a year early. According to Nice-Main, Monaco is expected to settle Pogba's remaining salary.

The 33-year-old Pogba has won four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia titles, three Italian Super Cup titles, one Europa League title, and two English League Cup titles with Juventus and Manchester United. He also played a key role in the French national team's 2018 World Cup victory. He was banned for 18 months starting in September 2023 for violating anti-doping regulations, and subsequently negotiated a contract termination with Juventus in November 2024.

In July 2025, Pogba joined Monaco on a free transfer after returning from suspension. He has been plagued by injuries at Monaco, making only 6 appearances to date.

Regarding the termination of his contract, Monaco CEO Thiago Scullo stated: “On behalf of the club, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Paolo. We were delighted to have journeyed with him. From the outset, we made it clear that his arrival was a bold and ambitious undertaking. While the final outcome was not as we hoped, this should not overshadow the passion he generated upon returning to club football, nor should it overlook the fact that Paolo was able to return to the pitch and professional football during this period. His contributions to the dressing room have been invaluable, especially to the younger players – he has always been generous in sharing his wealth of experience and offering valuable advice. He has consistently demonstrated exemplary professionalism, befitting his status as a top-level champion. We wish Paolo all the best for the future.”

Pogba himself said: "I want to thank the president and management, my teammates, all the staff and every fan who believed in me. It has been an unforgettable experience for me to represent the Principality of Monaco and its club. Monaco is a great club. Although I did not play as many games as I expected, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to wear their jersey."

It remains unclear where Pogba will go next. He has discussed joining several MLS clubs in recent weeks, and a move to the Saudi league is also a possibility.
