Joel Piro has joined West Ham United on loan and will play for the team for one season.

West Ham United have officially announced the signing of striker Joel Piro. The 27-year-old Piro will join on loan from Leeds United for one season, with a mandatory buy-out clause. West Ham will complete the permanent transfer in the summer of 2027.  

Joel Piro boasts an impressive goal-scoring record in the Championship. Over the past four seasons, he has played for Swansea City and Leeds United in the Championship, accumulating 73 goals. In the 2024/25 season, Joel Piro won the Championship Golden Boot with 19 goals and helped Leeds United win the league title, successfully returning to the Premier League.  

Born in the Netherlands, Joel Piro also holds Surinamese citizenship and came through the PSV Eindhoven youth academy. In the summer of 2021, Joel Piro joined Swansea City, contributing 44 goals in his two seasons with the club.  

After joining Leeds United in 2023, he continued his excellent goal-scoring record, netting 33 goals in two seasons and playing a crucial role in the team's return to the Premier League. Now, Joel Piro hopes to bring his goal-scoring prowess to West Ham United and help the team achieve its goal of returning to the Premier League.

He has extensive Championship experience and has proven himself capable of success. He also possesses excellent finishing ability in front of goal and is a very hungry striker.”

Joel Piero will wear the number 9 shirt at West Ham United. As one of the team's key signings this summer, the prolific striker will further strengthen the attack with his extensive Championship experience and excellent goal-scoring ability. West Ham United expect his arrival to contribute significantly to their promotion bid this season.

Speaking about his personal goals for the new season, Joel Piro hopes to reach double figures in both goals and assists. He said, "I hope to reach at least double figures in both goals and assists, and it would be even better if I could get close to 20. This has always been my goal. I hope to play more games and do my best to help West Ham United achieve promotion."
