PSV Eindhoven midfielder Fährmann has officially joined Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract until 2031.

Borussia Dortmund announced on Tuesday the formal signing of Dutch midfielder Joey Fährmann. Fährmann transferred from PSV Eindhoven and signed a contract until June 30, 2031.

The official announcement also confirmed that Fährmann will wear the number 25 jersey for Borussia Dortmund. According to the Dutch newspaper Dagens Nyheter, his transfer fee is approximately €22 million.

Regarding the signing, Dortmund's sporting general manager, Lars Ricken, explained: "Joey is an outstanding player, and his arrival will greatly help the team. Since the beginning of the year, we have lost two midfielders, Pascal Gross and Salih Özcan. That's why we specifically focused our recruitment efforts on the midfield position this summer. We also plan to deploy Emre Can as a center-back once he returns."

Dortmund sporting director Ole Booker added: "Joy is an outstanding player with creativity, technique, and vision. He has proven himself at PSV Eindhoven and with the Dutch national team, demonstrating his ability to consistently perform at the highest level. We are very much looking forward to him contributing his talent to the team in the future."

The 27-year-old Fährmann came through the Volendam youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in the Dutch second division on September 9, 2016. He then played for Heerenveen for three years before transferring to PSV Eindhoven in January 2022.

To date, Fährmann has made 198 appearances for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 31 goals and providing 67 assists, winning 3 Eredivisie titles, 2 Dutch Cup titles, and 3 Dutch Super Cup titles with the team. His outstanding performances at the club level have also earned him a place in the Dutch national team, where he has made 16 appearances and contributed 1 goal and 4 assists.

After completing the transfer, Fährmann stated through official channels: "Borussia Dortmund is a top club in Europe, and I am honored to be a part of it. I am very happy to be here, and I look forward to achieving success together with Borussia Dortmund in the future."
