Ellen Dinkljic has joined Werder Bremen on loan for one season.

Werder Bremen have officially announced the signing of 24-year-old attacker Ellen Dinkljic on loan from Freiburg for one season. The signing is particularly significant as Dinkljic, a native of Bremen, returns to his hometown club.  

Peter Niemeyer, the club's head of professional football, stated that Ellen Dinklj is an outstanding player who has accumulated a wealth of experience since leaving Werder Bremen, currently boasting over 100 Bundesliga appearances. He believes that Dinklj's return will benefit Werder Bremen in several ways, including on the pitch and within the team atmosphere.  

Ellen Dinkljic joined Werder Bremen's U19 team from SC Bergfeld in 2019 and made his first-team debut in 2020. He then played on loan at Heidenheim before permanently transferring to Freiburg in 2024. Last season, Dinkljic returned to Heidenheim on loan to continue gaining Bundesliga experience.  

Ellen Dinklj is still suffering from a muscle injury and is expected to miss the matches against Lüneburg and Freiburg for the time being. The club will arrange for him to gradually resume training this week and plans to try to get him back to full team training next week.  

Head coach Daniel Cuné also welcomed Ellen Dinkl's arrival. He pointed out that speed is a very important ability in the Bundesliga, and Ellen Dinkl has a clear advantage in this regard. Cuné believes that the arrival of this attacker will further enrich the team's attacking options and provide more tactical choices in the forward line.  

Ellen Dinklage is also excited about returning to Werder Bremen, saying, "Werder Bremen is my hometown and the club that helped me grow into a professional player. Therefore, I am very happy to be able to wear the Werder Bremen jersey again and play at the Weser Stadium. I can't wait to see my new teammates and fans, and I will do my best to contribute to a successful season for the team."  

"It's really hard for me to express how excited I am right now, because there are still some things I didn't get to do in Bremen. Now that I'm back here, I believe it will be a very fitting return, and I'm very happy about it."  

Ellen Dinklage had previously spent two loan spells at Heidenheim, where he gained valuable playing time. Of his 14 Bundesliga goals, 13 were scored during his time at Heidenheim, leading him to consistently speak positively of those loan spells.  

Ellen Dinklage believes that her time at Heidenheim played a crucial role in her professional development. She said, "That was a very important step in my career. There, I stepped out of my comfort zone and spent a year rediscovering myself. The team gave me a lot of support and helped me gradually build confidence and belief."  

"I'm no longer just the Ellen Dinklage who relies on straight-line breakthroughs and constantly attacks the opponent's back. Of course, these are still my strengths, but fans will see a me who is willing to give my all for the team. I will bring my passion and energy to the game, and at the same time, I will actively drop back to the middle to participate in the organization and support my teammates."
