Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson discusses new signings' performances and league preparations.

In their final preseason friendly at Anfield, Liverpool defeated Italian side Como 2-0 thanks to two first-half goals from Cody Gacopo and new signing Jeremy Jacquet.

After completing all six pre-season friendlies, Liverpool are about to kick off the new Premier League season with an away game against Newcastle United, which will also be manager Anthony Iraola's first official match in charge of the team.

In a post-match interview with Liverpool's official website, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson spoke about the team's preparations. He said, "We are very excited about the new season, but we also need to stay calm and focus on our daily training."

“We have big goals, but we must put in an equal amount of effort to achieve them. The whole team played very well in this game, but there are still details that can be improved. The best approach is to find areas for improvement while winning, and we need to have that mindset for our first league game.”

Alisson also pointed out that a clean sheet victory is crucial for building the team's confidence after a high-intensity preseason. Speaking about the team's overall defensive performance, he said, "Como is a team with a strong ball control ability."

“We didn’t give our opponents many easy opportunities to shoot. Every time they created a threat, there were defenders coming up to challenge and interfere, which made my defensive work much easier. At the same time, our forwards also seized their scoring opportunities.”

In this match, newly acquired defenders Jacquet and Araujo each played half the game. Alisson praised his two new teammates, saying, "Both of them performed very well. Jacquet was stable in passing and positioning in defense, while Araujo also showed strong one-on-one defensive ability in the second half."

"The addition of a high-level center-back can greatly improve the depth of the defense, especially playing alongside Van Dijk, which is very helpful for their integration. Including Frimpong, Korkz, and the midfielders, everyone has put in a lot of running, and this all-out attitude to win is exactly what we need to continue in the new season."
