Following Southampton's away defeat to Watford in the opening round of the Championship, goalkeeper Daniel Peretz believes the loss should serve as a wake-up call for the team. They need to carefully review the match, identify problems, and translate the lessons learned into improvements for future games.
Watford established a two-goal lead in the first half through goals from Iker Bravo and Armin Nabizada. In the second half, Sal Larin added another goal for Watford, extending their lead and ultimately securing the victory.
Daniel Peretz said: "This match reminds us that there is another side to football, that is, defeat can also happen. We haven't experienced a result like this in the last 21 games. But now that it has happened, we must learn from it and carefully analyze what we can do better."
"Of course, there were some positive aspects to this game. The season has just begun , and we still have 45 games to play, so we must maintain our confidence, keep our heads up, and keep moving forward."
Despite Southampton finding themselves on the back foot at times, Daniel Peretz praised the team's resilience in the second half. He said, "The game is never truly over until the final whistle, we've always known that, and we proved it with our performance today."
“We were fully capable of changing the course of the game, and at one point we were not far from equalizing or even taking the lead and winning. Unfortunately, we were unable to do so today, but this game will give us very valuable experience.”
"When we review this game, the most important thing is to learn from it. We won't blame anyone because making mistakes is part of football; everyone makes mistakes. Now we must move forward, and that's the right thing to do. In the second half, the team showed the spirit we've always had; no matter the score, we never give up easily."
