Community Shield – Karafiori's goal secures Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Manchester City and the title win.

In the 2026 Community Shield match at the Millennium Stadium, Premier League champions Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0 thanks to goals from Calafiori, Havertz, and Odegaard.

Shortly after the start of the match, Ben White passed the ball across the box, and Calafiori received a through pass from Lewis Skelley before breaking into the penalty area and slotting the ball home, giving Arsenal a dream start of 1-0. In the 4th minute, Manchester City's new signing Elliott Anderson delivered a cross, but it posed no threat.

In the 7th minute, Arsenal launched another attack. Zolis chipped the ball into the penalty area from the left, but it was cleared and collected by Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma. In the 14th minute, Odegaard took a corner kick, and Gabriel went down while challenging Husanov for possession, but the referee did not give a penalty.

In the 20th minute, Manchester City attempted a counter-attack. Foden received the ball outside the penalty area and took a long-range shot, but the ball was blocked by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

In the 24th minute, Foden fouled an opposing player and was shown a yellow card by the referee. In the 28th minute, Odegaard delivered a cross, Zolis headed the ball down, and Havertz headed it into the net, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead over Manchester City.

In the 36th minute, Doku made a diagonal pass, and Haaland received the pass and ran into the penalty area to shoot, but the ball went over the goal. In the 38th minute, Calafiori went up to challenge for the ball and fell to the ground, but the referee ruled it a dive and showed him a yellow card.

In the 43rd minute, Arsenal launched a counter-attack with a cross, and Calafiori's shot went over the post.

At the start of the second half, Manchester City substituted Grealish for Doku, while Arsenal midfielder Rice replaced Guimaraes. In the 48th minute, Zolis dealt with the defense and made a diagonal pass, which Ødegaard received and slotted past Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma to extend Arsenal's lead to 3-0.

In the 58th minute, Grealish chipped a pass from the left wing into the penalty area, where Gwadiol headed the ball but it went over the bar. In the 63rd minute, Saka regained possession and entered the penalty area, but his shot hit the side netting.

In the 73rd minute, Manchester City created an attacking opportunity. Rajen Scherki received the ball and took a long-range shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball was saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. In the 82nd minute, Semenho received a pass from his teammate and shot, but it was blocked by David Raya.

Arsenal ultimately defeated Manchester City 3-0, securing the Community Shield title and ushering in the 2026/27 season.
