Getafe officially triggered Club Brugge defender Zaid Romero's buy-out clause..

Getafe announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have officially triggered the buy-out clause of Club Brugge's Argentine defender Zaid Romero.

According to Getafe's official statement, Romero has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

About Zaid Romero

The 26-year-old Romero was born on December 15, 1999, in Mendoza, Argentina. He is 1.92 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a left-back. He has Syrian ancestry.

Romero joined Godoy Cruz's youth academy at a young age and completed his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in December 2019.

From 2021 to 2022, Romero played on-loan for Villa Dalmine and the LDU Quito successively.

In January 2023, Romero moved to Estudiantes de La Plata for €2.75 million.

During his year-and-a-half spell at Estudiantes de La Plata, Romero won the Copa de la Liga Professional and the Copa Argentina once.

In the summer of 2024, Romero joined Club Brugge for €5.5 million.

During his time with the Jupiler Pro League powerhouse, Romero won the Belgian Cup once.

In January 2026, Romero joined Getafe on-loan.

Since joining Getafe, Romero has so far made 15 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, scoring one goal.
