Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced that Pedro Porro has signed a new long-term contract with the club. As one of the team's key players, Porro made 47 appearances in all competitions last season, the most in the squad. His performance in the final seven matches under Roberto De Zerbi's management was particularly impressive.
Since joining Tottenham in January 2023, the Spanish full-back has made 152 appearances for the team, consistently demonstrating a stable and excellent performance. Sporting director John Langer said: "Ensuring Pedro Polo remains with the team is one of our most important tasks this summer."
"Over the past three and a half years, he has made remarkable progress and has now joined the ranks of the world's top full-backs. His upcoming World Cup appearance for Spain further demonstrates his strength and value. Pedro Polo is at the most mature stage of his career, not only providing leadership and experience to the team, but also possessing the potential to continue to improve."
“His character, professionalism, and on-field ability are highly compatible with our philosophy of building a top-level competitive team. We are very pleased that he has decided to continue to grow and move forward together with the club.”
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: "Pedro Polo is crucial to the team. He can consistently influence the course of the game on both ends of the pitch. In addition to his excellent technical ability, I especially admire his attitude. He maintains a desire to train, learn, and improve every day, which are the qualities that must be possessed to become a top player."
“He has an exceptionally intelligent understanding of the game, and he brings energy, intensity, and a unique personality to the team. This contract extension is exciting news for everyone at the club. We have always believed in Pedro Polo, and I look forward to continuing to work with him and helping him reach new heights in the years to come.”
Before the 2023 winter transfer window closed, Pedro Porro joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Sporting Lisbon and made 17 appearances for the team in the second half of the season. After the season ended, the club officially completed the buy-out deal.
In his first full season after joining the team, Pedro Porro quickly became an integral part of the team's tactical system, frequently moving in from right-back to midfield to participate in playmaking and attacking. In 35 Premier League starts, he contributed 3 goals and 7 assists. Furthermore, his spectacular long-range shot against Burnley in the FA Cup was voted the official fans' club's Goal of the Season.
In the 2024/25 season, Pedro Porro continued his outstanding performance, becoming one of the key contributors to the team's Europa League title win. He made 13 appearances in 15 Europa League matches, scoring a crucial goal in the second leg of the semi-final against Bodø/Glimt to help the team secure a place in the final. In the final, he started and helped the team defeat Manchester United in Athletic Bilbao to lift the trophy.
At the national team level, Pedro Porro has made 18 appearances for the Spanish senior national team and is gradually becoming an important member of the team. He won the 2025 UEFA Nations League title with the team and is currently working under head coach Luis de la Fuente in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
